In a home with water damage and ruined antiques will an adjuster work with you if you can repair the items ?

The adjuster doesn’t need to know who will do the repair if you can reach an agreement and get a check based on the estimate.

Insurance should just be writing u a check for damage. You are not obligated to repair any of the furniture. You can do what ever you want with the money.

I do this type of repair for for some adjusters. Normally I give an estimate, he pays the policyholder and they are free to hire me or not. I asked once and he said he cannot legally require them to use me. Of course, this could vary by locale.
A friend of mine was burgled a few years ago. He got paid for some lesser amount, but if he produced a receipt showing he replaced the item, he got an additional check to bring him up to replacement value. This could just be the way his policy worked with stolen items, though.

Yes, as a contents adjuster, I have worked with and paid people to do their own work. However, it is up to the adjuster to make the decision as to whether it is in your best interests.
