How to remove wax build up on a celoid antique mantal clock. Tired vingar but no help?

The finish you can see a shine in the back ground but the rest is a dull build up of wax. Can anyone help me out with this. I just had the clock restored to working order but he didn’t clean the outside of it disappointed in that area of restoration.

    If it’s wax try heating it with a blow dryer and then wiping it away.

    One doesn’t clean antiques or remove any of the layers of built up anything. All of this contributes to the patina of the piece. Your restorer did well in not cleaning it and please, never use vinegar on anything, it will eat away long after you have wiped it clean. Just dust with a soft cloth and let the piece alone.

    Most pieces are ruined by cleaning.
