Circa 1920’s similar to the ones you will find displayed at Ellis Island in New York. The frame is wood and the cover looks like thin animal skin.

gettingfit asked:

I was at a farmers market the other day. I spotted an antique wooden barrel about the size of a watermelon. The inside was divided. one side was about 1/4 of the barrel and the other side was 3/4. Was this used as a measuring divice? I tried to look it up but couldn’t find any info. Anyone know what it is called?

I purchased what I believed was a small wooden table for my printer at a garage sale for $5. When I got home, I realized that the top lifted up to become a back rest and the inside was a fully functional toilet with a metal bucket. Is it worth anything?
Thanks
Abe

Old Goat asked:

It is a BARSTOW stove made in Providence,RI around 1920. It has 4 surface burners and 2 small ovens on top one of which is also a broiler. There is a wood box on the left that was the heat source for the larger lower oven. I would like to get it back in service using natural gas.

How much are my antique glass bottles worth?

Monday, November 9th, 2009
mouse001 asked:

I have loads of very old glass bottles, and i wanted to know a good site that could tell me how much they are worth. One bottle is marked “sealed 1-11-14″. A lot of these bottles are in extemely good condition. If you know a site, or have knowledge yourself on this topic, I would really apreciate it.
I already went to e-bay, and they don’t have any of what i have.
Beekiss- I know, but i was kinda hoping for a general collecters price- should i feel bad for trying to get $50 for something, or is it a steal at that price?
Harry P- reported.
I looked at them, and here are a few of them:
Vicks
Jergens lotion
Bayer Asprin
Rolling rock beer
Certo?
Sqibb?
I don’t know what the last two are, i’ll have to look them up.

How can I sell contents of house?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009
weakestlink11 asked:

I am not having any luck selling things from my house. I want to sell the house, but it has to be cleaned out first. Most of the stuff I inherited and there are some valuable antiques and collectibles. I’ve tried Craig’s List and a locally circulated classified magazine. No luck. I’ve contacted estate liquidators and antique dealers in my area, but nobody is interested. I’ve even tried to have a few garage/estate sales, but the little I sold wasn’t worth the effort of setting it up and knocking it down. The contents are too valuable to just throwout or give away. Any ideas why nobody is interested or buying anything?
I asked the family and they aren’t interested unless I’m giving it away. Like I said, not even auctions or estate sellers want the stuff and there’s lots of nice framed art, cut & pressed glass and china.
