How can I give black coloured metal ornaments a rusty antique look?

They are candle holders but they are black and I want them to match the room they are in. The colours in the room are beige and burgundy and the furniture are of a dark oak colour, all of wood. I don’t know if those details make any difference because I’ve never decorated any thing, I’m hoping to make this my first project ever.

My husband inherited some antique furniture. What is the best way to sell it?
